ABOUT SOFIA
During my time as a student journalist at the University of Minnesota, I embraced the art and science of journalism. I specialized in telling human interest and social issue stories through a variety of digital mediums including videos, photos and blogs. I had the opportunity to combine information-gathering methods with my value of creativity to inform others.
Courtesy of my work and academic experiences, I am proficient in learning about, analyzing and reporting information related to urban experiences and affairs. As a student, I covered issues in the Twin Cities (like food insecurity), as well as hyperlocal issues around the University of Minnesota (like the closure of a campus branch library).

Additionally, I value assisting initiatives and operations that ensure people have accurate, accessible information and resources. This value influenced my approach to the following experiences:

-
preparing and leading facilitation sessions of 10 - 50 people
-
designing visually effective, informative websites
-
assisting with marketing research
-
efficiently fulfilling patron and customer requests for processing

Complementing these opportunities, I self-studied strategic brand management and brand authenticity to write my undergraduate honors thesis with the intent to understand how consumers perceive person-brand authenticity.
